Slowing down would have an effect not only on the individual but also on society as a whole.
The shape of the glass determines the speed of drinking beer, according to a new study by a team of researchers from the Alcohol Research Group Bristol .
The researchers conducted an experiment among 160 volunteers who underwent a medical examination to prove that they do not suffer from alcoholism. They had to drink 0.3 liters of beer from different types of glasses.
Then the time required for the participants in the attempt to empty the glass was detected.
It turns out that people drink a mug of beer with a rounded, irregular shape much faster than if they drink beer from a plain, straight glass. The reason is that the different shape of the curved cup, for example, creates an optical illusion about the amount of liquid in it.
Those who drank from straight glasses dried for an average of 13 minutes. And those who drank from rounded mugs needed only 8 minutes on average to finish the sparkling liquid.
At the same time, it was found that this dependence does not exist in soft drinks .
Scientists point out that the speed at which a person drinks has a strong effect on how quickly he gets drunk, as well as on the number of drinks consumed.
According to psychologists, people absorb alcohol faster than a curved glass, because it is more difficult to judge where it is in the middle. Therefore, it is more difficult to estimate how much it has consumed.
According to them, the study is very useful, because slowing down would have an effect not only on the individual but on society as a whole.
