Nuts Prolong Life

Nuts contain unsaturated fats, proteins and various vitamins and minerals and are a very good option for an afternoon snack.

People who regularly consume nuts live longer, it turns out. This shows the largest study of its kind, according to which the greatest benefits are for those who eat nuts daily.

Researchers emphasize that people who include nuts in their diet every day also lead a healthier lifestyle.

Researchers followed nearly 120,000 people over a 30-year period and found that the more often people ate nuts , the less likely they were to die soon.

In participants who consumed nuts once a week, the risk of death decreased by 11% compared to those who did not consume at all.

As for a healthier lifestyle, the researchers' observations show that it reduces the likelihood of smoking , the problem of overweight is less common, and, on the other hand, more physical activity is performed .

Experts also explain that nuts reduce cholesterol, inflammation and insulin resistance. Nuts contain unsaturated fats , proteins and various vitamins and minerals and are a very good option to replace chocolate, sweets and biscuits, which we often eat between meals.

So far, however, the link between longevity and nuts has not yet been conclusively proven, and further research is needed.

This study is funded by the US National Institutes of Health, in conjunction with the International Tree Nut Council Nutrition Research & Education Foundation, and published in the New England Journal of Medicine .
