Dishes made from sifted flour are more magnificent than from wholemeal. In this tip, we will tell you how to properly and quickly sift flour without a sieve and through a sieve.
Every housewife knows that before adding flour to any recipe, it must be sifted. But not everyone knows how to sift flour if there is no sieve. Now flour is sold in its ideal form - that is, without any unnecessary impurities. But it is still necessary to sift it, but they do it in order to make the dough as airy as possible and rise well.
How to sift flour without a sieveWhat to do if there is no sieve, because it happens that you have to cook not at home. Fortunately, ways have already been devised on how to quickly sift flour if there is no sieve.
In fact, any container with small holes is suitable for this, be it a colander, for example, or a fine grater. And if you first cover them with gauze, then you can do it correctly and easily - and the result will be even better than with a sieve!
Another way to sift flour without a sieve is to use an ordinary whisk or fork. A few simple movements will saturate the flour with oxygen in a matter of seconds.
A food processor and even the most primitive blender are for those who are reluctant to sift flour by hand. Using such kitchen appliances is the most effective way to quickly sift flour without a sieve.
Recipes with the ingredient wheat flour
Step 1
For work, we need flour, a metal sieve, a bowl, a whisk, a food processor.
Step 2
Before starting work, carefully read what is written in the recipe. If it is written: “sift 1 glass of flour”, then you must collect a glass of flour, and only then sift it.
Step 3
If the recipe says: “take 1 glass of sifted flour”, then the flour is sifted first, and then a glass of flour is taken with a spoon. The difference in weight between the first and second glass can be 15 grams, which is very important in some recipes.
Step 4
The easiest way to sift flour is with a sieve. Pour the flour into a sieve, lift it over the bowl and, shaking the sieve, sift the flour. The higher you raise the sieve above the bowl, the more airy the flour will become. But do not overdo it: flour from a sieve raised too high may crumble and some of it will not fall into the bowl. If you need especially airy flour, then sift it twice. Also, along with flour, you can sift other ingredients of the dish: cocoa, baking powder, salt.
Step 5
It is also convenient to sift the flour directly onto the cutting board.
Step 6
If you don't have a sieve handy, you can use a wire whisk to stir the flour in the bowl. And although this way the flour will not get rid of the debris, but the whisk will break up the lumps and add lightness to the flour.
Step 7
With a food processor, you can achieve the same results as with a whisk, but much faster. To do this, place the flour in a food processor with a knife attachment and turn it on for 5-6 seconds.
Step 8
It is better to store flour not in the bag in which you bought it, but in a plastic container. Sift the flour and put it in a container. Close the lid. In the container, the flour will not be pressed, lumps will not form there.
