All about the methods of drying apples: varieties, technology, temperature and storage secrets.
Drying is one of the ways to harvest apples for the winter, which allows you to save vitamins and useful trace elements in them. Everyone knows about the benefits of the so-called "dryers", but, nevertheless, not everyone still knows how to properly dry apples at home. And this can be done in several ways: in the microwave, over a gas burner, in an electric dryer, in the sun, but most often apples are dried in the oven.
Not all varieties of apples are suitable for drying - this is the first thing to consider before drying apples. The fruits of Antonovka, Titovka, Borovik, Aport, Anis and Slavyanka are usually dried in the oven. But this does not mean that other varieties are not suitable for drying. If summer sweet varieties or carrion are used, then before drying, the apples are peeled.
Drying apples in modern kitchen appliances, such as a fruit dryer, is a real pleasure. Everything is optimally calculated in them: temperature, humidity, and even duration. If the apples are dried in the oven, then for the first 30 minutes it is necessary to set the temperature to 80 ° C, then to 70 ° C, and when most of the moisture has evaporated from the apples, the temperature is reduced to 50 ° C.
Recipes with apple ingredient
Step 1
In order to prepare drying from apples, we need sweet and sour apples, a knife, water, salt.
Step 2
Prepare a weak saline solution in advance. To do this, dissolve 10 g of salt in 1 liter of cold water.

Wash and dry apples. Cut the apples into quarters and remove the seed box. If you will prepare compote from drying, then the seed box can not be removed.

Cut the prepared apples into thin slices no thicker than 5 mm.

Dip the prepared apple slices in portions into the saline solution for 4 minutes. Thanks to this, the apples will look much lighter after drying, and the thin salt film will repel pests.

Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the electric vegetable racks. Cook at 60-70°C.

Check the apples after a few hours. If there is no stickiness left in the apple slices, but they are soft and elastic, then they are ready.
