A basic principle in weight loss diets is that they have a lower caloric content. Another study showed that it is possible to achieve the optimal effect if you include a moderate amount of protein in the diet. Experts say that within a year, the results in terms of weight are better if you include protein in the menu than if you follow a diet high in carbohydrates, but low in fat. Moreover, a beneficial effect has also been found for serum lipids - an increase in 'good cholesterol' and a decrease in triglycerides.

Informative results on the topic were obtained by observing 30 overweight volunteers, divided into groups depending on the diet - high-carbohydrate diet - only 15% of calories are of protein origin; the second - with a moderate protein content, where the amount provides about 30% of energy needs, and the other 40 - from sugars and 30% for fat. A year later, there was a difference in weight loss of only about 2 kilograms. The second group, however, lost more fat and significantly improved its lipid profile.

Experts explain that proteins in food help maintain a sufficiently active metabolism. On the other hand, reducing carbohydrates leads to a lower level of insulin, which potentiates fat accumulation.

The most important thing for a diet is to follow the rules, nutritionists say. Most people break the appointed regimes through their own gaze, which makes them ineffective.
