Each box of formula contains instructions for preparation and storage, which must be read carefully and followed exactly. Formulas are not sterile and can be further contaminated with disease-causing microorganisms. Proper storage and preparation of food reduces the risk of infections with pathogenic microorganisms. Attention must be paid to the shelf life and the integrity of the packaging. The milk is prepared in sterile bottles and sterile pacifiers are used. Before each sterilization, bottles and pacifiers should be washed with a brush, warm water and soap, then rinsed well. They are sterilized by boiling, with a microwave sterilizer, in a steam sterilizer or by chemical sterilization. When preparing the milk, it is necessary for the mother to wash her hands with soap and water and to dry well.
Up to 1 year of age, boiled bottled or drinking water is used to prepare the milk, which should boil for about 10 minutes, after which the water is cooled (the cooling temperature is marked on the box). The dosage of the milk is also marked on each box, and after receiving the solution, the milk is not boiled or sweetened, no rice water or rice flour is added. More concentrated solutions should not be used, as this will allow the child to feed. If milk remains in the bottle after feeding, it should be discarded and used for the next feeding. Ready milkcan be consumed no more than 1-2 hours after preparation, but no more. It should not be stored in thermoses or heated in a microwave oven, because this increases the number of pathogenic microorganisms. If necessary, the prepared milk can be stored for 1 hour in a refrigerator at a temperature of 4 - 5 degrees. Before feeding, always check the temperature of the milk by dripping 1-2 drops on the wrist.
The child eats in a semi-lying position. The milk bottle should be tilted so that its throat is always full of milk. In this way, it cannot absorb air during a meal that lasts up to 15 minutes. The child is then taken in his arms and held upright for about 10 to 15 minutes to burp. He should not be forced to take the whole amount of milk from the bottle.
