Pour the flour into a deep bowl, make a hole and put the egg in it. Add powdered sugar, baking powder, semolina, vanilla and melted butter. Knead a soft dough - it should not stick to your hands. Form walnut-sized balls and arrange them in a greased pan. Place a whole hazelnut (or other nuts) in the middle of each nut and bake until golden in a preheated oven.
Meanwhile, prepare the syrup: Mix the water and sugar, bring to the boil and 3 minutes later add the lemon juice. Bring to a boil for 1 minute and remove from the heat. If desired, you can also add vanilla sugar.
Pour the sugar sugar syrup over the hot sugarcane and wait 20-25 minutes for the dessert to soak. You are ready to serve.
