In a large bowl, boil the linguine al dente - ie. be slightly firm in the center, not overcooked. Drain and set aside.
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan, fry the onion, season with hot pepper and parsley - cook for 1 minute until the garlic aroma is released.
Add the well-cleaned mussels and pour the wine. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 7-10 minutes until the mussel shells open. (If there are any that have closed shells after cooking, discard them.)
Add the lemon juice and the linguine. Stir well to mix and season the pasta with the juices in the pan.
Serve with lemon slices for extra flavor if needed.
