In nuts contain many fats which at high temperatures and in free contact with air impart the useful product rancid taste.

The main criteria by which you can guess the fresh nuts are the golden or brown color and the pleasant aroma. However, storing them for a long time is not an easy task. The packages, bags and cabinets are good for consumption only until the end of winter. To keep them longer, it is better to put them in metal, glass or clay containers that close tightly.

You can freeze the peeled nuts, but put them in an airtight box. This allows you to preserve their antioxidant properties.

High humidity and temperatures are an ideal environment for mold to form. If you notice one, remove it immediately or discard the nut because it is saturated with alpha toxins.

Humidity should not exceed 40%, because otherwise in a few weeks it will appear fresh first on the shell, and then on the kernels.

As for the temperature, the lower it is, the longer and better the nuts will be preserved.

If the goal is to store them for about a month or two, then safely put them in a plastic bag.
