Food colors with indices from E 100 to E 199 color the products and restore the lost color due to processing. They can be natural (such as beta-carotene) or chemical (such as tartrazine).

Azorubin is  a red dye. Causes allergies and rashes. It is banned in Austria, Norway, Sweden. Austrian consumer organizations classify E 122 as an allergen that is dangerous for asthmatics.

Azorubin is used in marzipans, jams, yogurts, rolls with jam fillings, "brown" sauces and red drinks.

Food colors color the mixtures and products, give a good look to the finished products.
